Winning housebling, LIVERPOOL

Welcome to 2005/06

Greetings houseblingers and their admirers! It's been a great season for housebling: you have submitted over 250 pictures to and there have been some fabulous entries from all over the country. We've had an exciting time, with quite a lot of media interest: we've done interviews for the press and local radio stations and were Radio 2's Website of the Day on 14 December 2005. Media companies looking for houseblings have used the site for their research.

Houseblinger Results
You have voted 28 Wyresdale Road (bling #205), Liverpool L9, top housebling for 2005-6. Well done that blinger! In second place, you voted for a house in Par (bling #83), Cornwall. Third place goes to a house in Chesterfield (bling #222), Derbyshire.

Your number one choice is a good one: the blinger has created something special (in our view) by considering the whole structure of the house and then visually enhancing it – rather than covering the walls with unrelated elements. This structural approach is probably easier with a large detached house, so it's all the more gratifying see it applied successfully to a terraced home. And there's snow as well!

The team would like to mention our favourite charity bling: it's Olive Linge's from Hockley, Essex (bling #177). It's a massive installation and they raise loads for the local children's hospice.

There have been so many good entries this year, and we'd like to thank all the blingers and spotters who sent them. Have a great summer and we look forward to hearing from you next season.

Light up your Home
For the 2005-6 season, we teamed up with Marie Curie Cancer Care to help promote their Light up your Home campaign. Many houseblingers again did fantastic work, and when we get info on the results of their efforts, we'll post them here.

About is a free showcase for those amazing people who decorate (well, overdecorate) the exteriors of their houses at Christmas with lights. Some do it for charity, some for fun, or both. Whatever, houseblinging is a phenomenon that cannot be ignored, and is celebrated on this website.
